in Kashub means "cancer" or "crab". The word for
"crab" and "cancer" in classical Polish is "rak",
hence Rakowski is a classical Polish (non-Kashub) name. There is a
Rekowo Lake in Kashub, Poland, Rekowo village, Dolne Rekowo and GÑrne
Rekowo. So Rekowski seem to be all over and particularly so in the
BytÑw region, in the village of Rekowo. Many Rekowski names in that
district have przydomeks like Wantoch-Rekowski (of Rekowo), Wrycz-Rekowski
and the famous Styp-Rekowski. Elsewhere it's plain Rekowskis. The
